Vehicle History

She’s red with a lot of chrome, showing why Chevy’s from the 55-57 era, the Tri-5’s as they are identified, remain ultra-popular and an absolute staple at car events.  Our California car shows big and bold, sporting mouse power and modern features.  She comes with a clean and clear CA title in our Owner’s name.

Big and red, enough said. She underwent a reconstruction in 2010. Significant repairs were made, producing a beauty. Here distinctive stainless and chrome moldings and trim really set that large wagon to beauty. Tinted glass gives her a modern, regal look. Aftermarket era-correct and stylish, those slightly oversized 17” rims complete her gorgeous exterior.

Plush and comfy, her gray cloth interior is a stylish and custom. Dolphin gauges fit in the factory dash cluster, so retro-cool and distinctive to a Tri-5 car. Modern steering and wheel accent the customization, along with chromed stereo speaks throughout the inside. A beautiful headliner is a must in a huge interior, and she presents oh-so nice. Door panels have been accented with chrome uppers, completing a very clean look.

Powered by GM venerable and somewhat rare 327 cid V8. It’s been slightly warmed and carries an Edelbrock 4 bbl. carb and is cooled by an aluminum radiator with electric fans. Backing our little mouse motor is a Turbo 350 3 speed automatic. Remaining running gear appears to be original. Suspension upgrades include power assisted front disc brakes, power steering, add-a-leaf’s at the rear and dual exhaust. Very fine and highly practical is the addition of Vintage Air conditioning.

The extremely thorough and exhaustive review of this fine 5 was performed by Lemon Squad. They were a bit critical of the finer points of her exterior and noted that repairs were performed during her reconstruction. We applaud the objective nature of an analytical review, plus note that sometime a judgement must be made. The backfiring of an engine after many years of siting can be attributed to many items and the Inspector reported one - likely fuel. He also did a solid when performing his cosmetic inspection, not mincing words, or creating assumptions, just stating the facts. Overall, she was given a comprehensive analysis and, overall, she is in wonderful condition.

Way back when, if you had too many doors, it was likely because you borrowed the car from your mom. Today, not so much as any Tri-5 is commanding big dollars. It is very nice when a classic becomes street oriented with conveniences like a three-speed automatic, power steering and brakes and, most important, a peppy-rumbling V8. Modify and customize them into a safe and fun car to drive makes for a fun day of cruising. And big red wagons are just simply cool, did every kid want a Flyer?
